Field service technicians can work off-site most of the time doing routine repairs, maintaining equipment, and showing customers how to use the products. Frequent travel, often on short notice, is therefore a hallmark of the profession. Field service technicians must be able to effectively use the mobile office environment and equipment to communicate with clients and the employer and stay organized during the workday.
In
short, becoming a field service engineer requires technical training,
developing good communication and customer service skills, and being
comfortable with a mobile office and working on the go.
