Network Search allows Windows 10 to search for computers and other devices on the network. This feature turns on automatically when you are connected to private networks, such as those at home or at work. Network detection is turned off when you are connected to public networks that you should not trust and if you do not allow your computer to access those networks.

If your computer or Windows 10 device does not see other
computers on the network, there are probably two culprits: either you provided
the wrong network profile (public or private), or network discovery was
disabled for some reason.
File and printer sharing
When connected to private networks, Windows 10 automatically
turns on the printer and file sharing setting. This way, you can easily share
folders, files, and printers with other computers and devices on your network.
However, if your network administrator changes this setting, you may need to
turn it on or off manually, depending on your needs.
