The
first thing you need to complete before scheduling the actual exam is to enroll
in the F5 Certification Program in the F5s Credential Management System. Once
you've done that, you will receive an authorization email from F5 authorizing
you to schedule exam 101. The site is relatively intuitive once you register.
This will be your foundation for things like F5-provided projects, study
guides, and certification logos that you can use on your website / business
cards. I point out, the study guides you will find on this site are not
complete / the only thing you will need to pass the exams. They are schemes and
examples of objective arguments. They will include references to the material
on which you should base your studies.

On
the credentials site you will also find an option to publish credentials, which
allows you to send an email certified with your certification credentials from
@ PEARSON VUE credentials verification services - note that the email is from a
slightly different domain than what you might be familiar with from PEARSON -
CredentialVerificationServices@pearsoncred.com. This can be a useful tool to
send your official credits to potential employers, boss or maybe even tease
your coworkers;).
Some
people will prefer to start studying before scheduling their first exam, others
will take the opportunity to light a fire under their rear. In any case, once
you are authorized to take the test from F5, you can go ahead and schedule the
F5 101 exam on the F5s certification landing page on PEARSONS VUE. After
registering and logging into the PEARSON site, you will see exam 101 under
pre-approved exams, go ahead and click on it - you will then be taken to a page
with exam details and a large blue button which says "Schedule this
exam". From there you will proceed to search for the test center and
choose the day and time that works best for you. Give yourself ample time to
prepare and review all project material. I personally like morning exams, as I
feel the coolest in the morning, but somehow it feels like I'm always landing
on an afternoon slot that works with my schedule;). When taking the actual
exam, make sure you are rested, fed and stress-free on exam day. I have a
friend who actually checked into a hotel the day before. It might sound
extreme, but if you have a large family at home, the distraction-free zone
might be worth it. However you prepare in the previous days, avoid cramming -
it doesn't work for these types of tests.
